Updates are free and arrive inside the app. Footman can check for them and install them for you, or you can choose Check for Updates Now in Settings.
Footman 1.1.3
- Your licence email now has an Activate in Footman button. Click it on your Mac and Footman activates, with no key to copy and paste.
- Footman reminds you when 7 days of your trial are left, and again the day before it ends.
- When a trial ends, each folder shows which rules are paused and how to start them again. Your folders and rules are kept.
- You can buy a licence or enter your key from inside Footman.
- Anonymous usage statistics give us a little more detail when they're switched on.
- A new footman://activate link lets the licence email activate the app for you.
Footman 1.1.2
- Turning off anonymous usage statistics in Settings → General → Privacy now stops all sending straight away.
Footman 1.1.1
- Footman can share anonymous usage statistics with us, such as how many rules you have and how often Bertie helps. It never sends file names, paths, folder contents or anything you type to Bertie. You can switch it off in Settings → General → Privacy.
Footman 1.1: meet Bertie
- Bertie is a helper who lives in Footman. Tell him what you want in plain English and he writes the rule for you. He can also say where a file went and why a rule didn't run.
- A new "Bertie says it…" condition matches files by what they are, such as receipts or tickets.
- Rename with Bertie gives a file a clear name based on what's inside it.
- Bertie needs macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on, or your own Claude key. Everything else in Footman works without him.
- A redesigned app, with rule suggestions for each folder.
- Drag a rule onto another folder to copy it there.
- Each folder now has a When to tidy setting: as files land, on a schedule, or only when you ask.
- New Settings, and a short welcome tour the first time you open Footman.
- Many smaller fixes.
